CERVA Supports the Formula Student Team from Liberec
Have you heard of Formula Student? It's a prestigious international competition where over 500 university teams from around the world participate. The challenge? Designing and building innovative racing cars that are put to the test in rigorous races and disciplines, evaluating both the car's performance and the team's capabilities including budgeting and marketing skills.
The FS TUL Racing team from the Technical University in Liberec has been competing in this event for nearly a decade under the leadership of the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Dr. Jaromír Moravec. This dedicated team has already designed and built five single seater racing cars, affectionately named Eliška, Anička, Markétka, Klárka, and Viktorie, each showcasing their skills in multiple races.
The newest addition to the Liberec team’s fleet is Anežka, who is still awaiting her maiden ride. The FS TUL Racing team presented Anežka on June 18, 2024, and CERVA was proud to be present at the event.
We wholeheartedly support the Liberec students and admire their dedication and passion for this remarkable endeavour. To contribute to their success, we have equipped the FS TUL Racing team with our work clothes and personal protective equipment featuring their team logo. Our gear ensures they are well-protected from head to toe, providing reliable clothing, shoes, gloves, and specialized protective aids for breathing, hearing, and vision as they construct their new racing cars.
What must successful teams and their formulas accomplish in the competition? It's not just about speed. The competition includes various disciplines that test safety, stability, braking efficiency, and noise levels. Teams also present and defend their design proposals, cost analyses, and marketing plans for the hypothetical mass production of their prototype in front of a panel representing a fictional company. The dynamic events, such as skid-pad, acceleration, autocross, and a 22-kilometer endurance race, add a racing thrill to the competition.
