Hearing protection

EN 352:2002

European standard for protectors against noise is made in several parts for the safety and testings on the different types of individual noise protectors.

EN 458:2004

Hearing protectors – recommendations for selection, use, care and Maintenance.

SNR: xx dB SNR (single number rating) is only a general means of comparing different ear protectors. Generally the higher the SNR number the better the performance of the ear defender across a range of noise frequencies. For example a SNR of 27 decibel may not give a 27 decibel attenuation at all High, Medium or Low frequencies.

SNR: xx d8

SRN (single number rating) is only a general means of comparing different ear protectors. Generaly the higher the SRN number the better the performance of the ear defender across a range of noise frequencies.

Hard hat

Is a type of helmet predominantly used in workplace environments such as industrialor construction sites to protect the head from injury due to falling objects, impact with other objects, debris, rain, and electric shock. Hard hats could be combinated with face protection and hearing protection.

Bump cap

Is a lightweight hard hat using a simplified suspension or padding and a chin strap. Bump caps are used where there is a possibility of scraping or bumping one‘s head on equipment or structure projections, but are not sufficient to absorb large impacts, such as that from a tool dropped from several stories.
